Mr. Michael Gilliard went to one of the top ranking schools in the world in the study of mortuary science and graduated in 2002 with a degree in mortuary science. After graduating, Mr. Gilliard served a one-year internship in the state of Illinois at Smith & Thomas funeral home at 5701 W. Madison Ave, Chicago, IL 60644. While serving this internship, he received a Bachelor’s of Science from National-Lewis University in 2005. Following the completion of the internship, Mr. Gilliard worked for Gatlings Funeral Chapel for three years. In October of 2010, he acquired his Indiana funeral director license and also acquired this license for the state of Michigan in November of that same year. Right after receiving his Indiana funeral director license, he began employment with Coleman & Hicks Funeral Home in Michigan City, IN and remained there until June, 2019. Mr, Gilliard also held employment with the sister home to Coleman & Hicks, Powell & Coleman Funeral Home of Gary, IN during that same timeframe. Additional employment was served at Robbins Brothers Funeral Home of Benton Harbor, MI from April, 2017 until June of 2019.
